Oxley Solar Farm

Summary

The Oxley Solar Farm (the project) is a 215 MW (megawatt) solar farm with a 50 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) that received approval by the NSW Government in December 2023. The project is located on approximately 1,048 hectares of land, with a development footprint of around 267 hectares.

As approved, the project will include approximately 385,280 solar panels mounted on either fixed-tilt or single-axis tracking systems. The BESS will help support reliable energy supply by storing renewable energy for use when it is needed most.

Once operational, the Oxley Solar Farm is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power around 78,000 average Australian homes and avoid approximately 382,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

The project will also deliver economic benefits to the region, creating around 300 jobs during construction and supporting approximately five ongoing full-time positions during operations.

Since receiving approval, the project has progressed to a modification application. The proposed changes are driven by advances in technology, evolving grid requirements and a shift in the electricity market towards more integrated solar and battery storage solutions.
